Located in the Northern part of Ashgabat, Gurtly lake was officially renamed to Golden lake - "Altyn köl". The corresponding Decree was signed today by the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, the information program "Watan" of the Turkmen television reported.
The decision was made "in order to create a modern recreation zone on the shore of the lake North of the city of Ashgabat, to further improve the environmental situation in the area, turning the lakeshore in one of the most comfortable places of rest and given created opportunities for recreation for residents and visitors to the city," reads the Decree of the President.
