President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov was awarded the highest award of the International Cycling Union (UCI) for his invaluable contribution to the development of Cycling. This is stated in a message addressed to the President of Turkmenistan by the head of the UCI David Lappartien, the information program "Watan" of the Turkmen television reported today.
"On behalf of the International Cycling Union (UCI), I Express my sincere gratitude for Your invaluable contribution to the development of sport and the Olympic movement in Turkmenistan.
I am happy to inform you that on the occasion of world Bicycle day, the UCI steering Committee has made a unanimous decision to award You the highest UCI award and its certificate for your immense contribution to the development of world Cycling.
It would be a great pleasure for me to personally present You with the UCI award, but this is not yet possible due to the current known situation in the world. Therefore, it is an honor for me to present you the highest award of the UCI at the online meeting on June 2, 2020," David Lappartien said in his message.
