Issues of modernization of the electric power industry were discussed at a working meeting held today by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov with the participation of Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Shamuhammet Durdylyev and energy Minister Charymurat Pourchekov.
Opening the meeting, the head of state stressed that the tasks of the energy industry, one of the key sectors of the national economy, occupy an important place in the state programs being implemented. In accordance with the concept of development of the electric power industry, Turkmenistan is carrying out comprehensive work to strengthen its material and technical base, and to systematically increase the volume of electricity supplies abroad.
Then the floor was given to the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Sh. Durdylyev, who reported on the state of Affairs in the supervised area.
Speaking about the huge potential of the national electric power industry, the President of Turkmenistan stressed that electricity production is one of the most profitable in the world.
Today, the Turkmen energy industry demonstrates stable high rates of development and is able not only to meet the country's domestic needs, but also to increase the volume of electricity exports, the head of state said, giving the Deputy Prime Minister specific instructions.
Then the report of the Minister of energy Ch. Purchekov, which reported on the execution of instructions to increase the capacity of the industry. As noted, only in recent years, its infrastructure has been supplemented by new gas turbine power plants built in Ashgabat, Akhal, Balkan, Lebap and Dashoguz velayats. Today, this work is actively continuing.
In this regard, special attention was paid to the construction of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline, the interstate energy highway – the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan (TAP) high-voltage power transmission line.
The Turkmen leader stressed the importance of improving and increasing the capacity of the domestic energy system, applying best practices and digital technologies.
In this regard, the meeting participants were instructed to ensure the strictest control over the implementation of projects, paying particular attention to the creation of a reliable unified power grid to ensure uninterrupted power supply within the country.
Thus, referring to future deliveries to the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, the President stressed that the project initiated by the Turkmen side will contribute to the formation of appropriate infrastructure and the creation of new jobs, and most importantly, will make a significant contribution to the sustainable development and stabilization of the situation in the neighboring friendly country.
For many years, Turkmenistan has been providing all possible assistance to the fraternal Afghan people in building a peaceful life. Major projects such as the construction of the TAPI gas pipeline and the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan power transmission line are of great importance not only for the participating countries, but also for the region as a whole.
Emphasizing the importance of developing broad international cooperation, the President said that Turkmenistan is always open to equal and mutually beneficial partnership with leading foreign companies with extensive experience and modern technologies.
In accordance with the concept of development of the electric power industry, a new generation of engineering and technical developments should be introduced everywhere. The head of state demanded to continue paying close attention to the training of personnel for this sphere.
At the end of the working meeting, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov instructed the relevant leaders to develop measures for the speedy implementation of the planned plans and wished success in solving the tasks set, the state news Agency of Turkmenistan reports.
