Today took place the meeting of Deputy Foreign Ministers of Central Asian countries, including Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Republic of Uzbekistan and the Russian Federation. The meeting was held in the format of a video conference.
The topic of discussion was the agenda of the upcoming third Ministerial meeting in the CA5+Russia format.
The participants of the meeting stressed the importance of strengthening and coordinating interaction between the Central Asian States and Russia, as well as the entire world community in countering the CVID-19 pandemic.
The diplomats confirmed the special importance of assistance and mutual assistance to overcome the socio-economic consequences and ease the conditions of citizens ' stay in force majeure situations during the pandemic. The participants of the meeting also called for the intensification of current lines of trade, economic, transport, logistics and regional cooperation.
The Turkmen side emphasized the need to develop coordinated steps in order to successfully counter this threat, adding that, based on the recommendations of who and relevant international structures, as well as its own experience, Turkmenistan has taken a timely set of measures aimed at preventing the spread of COVID-19 coronavirus.
The head of the Turkmen delegation noted the importance of regular communication and exchange of views on regional stability and security, as well as the need to strengthen political and diplomatic interaction, where the parties have a solid potential for mutual implementation. They also voiced the President's initiatives on the need for rapid and complete restoration of transport links between countries and regions, transit corridors, search for new routes and the inclusive use of effective mechanisms of scientific diplomacy.
The issue of resolving the situation in neighboring Afghanistan was also discussed during the meeting, and views were exchanged on ensuring the security and stability of the region, the Ministry of foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan reports.
