Turkmenistan's position on overcoming global challenges is presented at the Boao Asian forum

Turkmenistan's Ambassador to China Parahat Durdyev took part in the online conference of the Boao Asian forum (BAF) on the prospects for regional cooperation in the context of the pandemic, where reports on economic integration processes in Asia were presented. Forum participants in their speeches called for joint work to restore the world economy, remove trade barriers, stabilize supply chains and promote innovation to avoid the risk of a long-term recession on a global scale, the website "Turkmenistan: Golden age" reports.

According to experts, in 2020, the Asian economy is expected to grow at zero, and its share in the global economy will be 50.2%. However, they noted that the negative consequences of COVID-19 provide at the same time a unique opportunity for structural reforms in the economy, a comprehensive digital transformation.

In his speech, the Ambassador of Turkmenistan to China presented the position of our country in connection with the current situation in the world caused by the coronavirus pandemic.

The participants were familiarized with the strategy of solidarity actions outlined in the speech of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov at the video summit of the non-aligned Movement in the Contact group format, dedicated to countering COVID-19 coronavirus infection.

Our diplomat focused on the key aspects of the consolidated actions proposed by the Turkmen leader: mutual assistance of States-organizational, moral, financial, material; close cooperation with the United Nations and the world health organization; creation of a platform for putting the global economy on a path of sustainable growth, as well as joining efforts in solving humanitarian issues, in particular, in providing assistance to migrants, refugees, and vulnerable segments of the population.

Durdyev's speech also highlighted the importance of the UN General Assembly Resolution adopted on the initiative of Turkmenistan in September last year to declare 2021 the International year of peace and trust. Participants of the video forum were invited to participate in the conference "the Policy of neutrality and its importance in ensuring international peace, security and sustainable development", which will be held in Ashgabat in December 2020.

The Boao Asian Forum, BAF, was established in 2001 and is known as "Eastern Davos". It is a non-governmental and non-profit international organization that promotes economic exchange, interaction and cooperation both in Asia and abroad by holding annual high-level meetings with representatives of government, business, industry and scientific circles and discussing current economic, social, environmental and other issues.

This time, the video conference was attended by former Vice premiers of China and Singapore, foreign ambassadors, representatives of the UN and its structural divisions accredited in China, top managers of international financial and economic institutions (IMF, ASEAN+3, etc.) and banking structures, international experts in the field of world economy, representatives of the Chinese Academy of social Sciences, the Bureau of macroeconomic research, the Institute of Central Asian regional economic cooperation, and others, in total, more than 200 people.
