The issue of granting Turkmenistan observer status in the world trade organization (WTO) was discussed today during an online meeting of employees of the Permanent mission of Turkmenistan to the UN Office in Geneva with WTO experts.
The Turkmen side provided information on the work done to grant our country observer status in the WTO.
In addition, based on the results of the meetings of the Government Commission for the study of Turkmenistan's membership in the WTO, held on April 15 and May 4, an overview of the economic policy and foreign trade regime of Turkmenistan was prepared and it was noted that the country needs to obtain observer status in the Organization. As a first step towards WTO membership this will contribute to the development of the national economy of Turkmenistan
The parties discussed the possibility of considering the issue of granting observer status to Turkmenistan in the agenda of the next session of the WTO General Council, the Turkmen foreign Ministry reports.
