Turkmenistan and the international organization for migration discussed aspects of cooperation

Issues of developing constructive cooperation between Turkmenistan and the International organization for migration were discussed during meetings held today in the format of a videoconference in the Ministry of foreign Affairs and the State migration service with the IOM regional coordinator for Central Asia, Zeynal Gajiyev.

The subject of detailed discussion was the implementation of joint programs planned for the current year. Noting the significance of the national action plan of Turkmenistan on combating human trafficking for 2020-2022, approved in December last year by the Decree of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, the participants of the meetings spoke in favor of building productive ties.

Underlining the effectiveness of interaction in international formats, the parties noted the need to coordinate actions in order to solve urgent problems in this area, as well as respond to emergencies.

Special attention was paid to strengthening measures to regulate migration, developing international cooperation, including finding practical solutions to problems in this area and providing humanitarian assistance to those in need, the state news Agency of Turkmenistan reports.
