This year, the export of petrochemical products produced in Turkmenistan to Georgia has significantly increased. According to the Union of importers of petroleum products of Georgia, in March, the largest imports of motor gasoline and diesel fuel were made from Russia – 19 thousand tons and Turkmenistan-16.8 thousand tons. The largest purchases of aviation kerosene were also made in our country – 4.9 thousand tons, which is twice the previous year's figure.

In the first three months, more than 40,000 tons of automobile fuel were delivered to the Georgian market, which is 2.5 times more than in the same period last year. At the same time, it is noted that the share of Turkmen gasoline is already 17 percent of the total import, and aircraft fuel-74 percent.

Thus, according to the results of the first quarter, Turkmenistan still tops the list of major exporters of aviation kerosene to Georgia. During this period, trading companies purchased about 14 thousand tons of these products in our country.

According to data published in April by the national statistical office of Georgia, the total cost of petroleum products imported from our country in January-February 2020 amounted to more than 19 million us dollars. Turkmenistan currently ranks third in the list of main suppliers of fuel and energy complex products, after Russia and Romania.

According to experts, effective steps have been taken recently to activate the Turkmen-Georgian trade and economic ties. In particular, in February of this year, the railway companies of Georgia and Azerbaijan signed an Agreement on seasonal transit transportation of petroleum products from Turkmenistan at reduced rates, which will be valid from April to November. In General, this is intended to increase the competitiveness of the transit-transport route Europe-Caucasus-Asia.
