Turkmenistan, where no cases of coronavirus have been registered, is stepping up measures to prevent the dangerous COVID-19 virus from entering the country.

According to the information and analytical portal Jeyhun.news, additional control points have been set up around major localities, including the capital Ashgabat. Before entering major cities and towns, the body temperature of drivers or passengers is measured using infrared thermometers. This precautionary measure also applies to passengers on all domestic flights.

In order to prevent the spread of coronavirus, foreign citizens and stateless persons are restricted from crossing the state border of Turkmenistan from March 20 to April 20, 2020.

If necessary, the following categories of persons may enter the territory of Turkmenistan in accordance with the current rules and regulations:

diplomats of foreign countries, representatives of international organizations;
the crews of aircraft and ships;
cargo transport drivers engaged in international transit transport;
members of work teams on railway tracks;
foreign representatives working at economic facilities located on the territory of Turkmenistan.

At the same time, those wishing to visit Turkmenistan must have a certificate of absence of coronavirus. Citizens who do not have certificates are required to undergo a medical examination, including laboratory tests for the detection of the COVID-19 virus in the blood.

In accordance with the recommendations of the world health organization and in compliance with the order of the Ministry of sports and youth policy, the football Federation of Turkmenistan suspended indefinitely all tournaments under its auspices, including the national championship of the country.

In schools, children are taught the importance of personal hygiene, especially hand washing with soap.

Local media also regularly publish recommendations from WHO, UNICEF and health institutions in Turkmenistan on compliance with preventive measures to prevent infectious diseases.
