Today, on the initiative of the Uzbek side, the presidents of Turkmenistan and the Republic of Uzbekistan had a telephone conversation.
According to the state news Agency of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Shavkat Mirziyoyev addressed greetings to each other and the peoples of both countries on the occasion of the international day of Novruz, celebrated on March 21.
During the telephone conversation, the heads of state exchanged views on the key areas of the Turkmen-Uzbek partnership, which has a progressive dynamic character and is built from the positions of trust and mutual respect, taking into account the realities of today and the situation in the region and the world.
Presidents Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Shavkat Mirziyoyev noted the positive dynamics of the interstate dialogue in the context of implementing the agreements reached during the meetings and negotiations at the highest level, which allowed us to reach new frontiers in the political, trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres.
The parties confirmed their interest in diversifying mutually beneficial relations, which have a huge, time-consuming potential. At the same time, it was stressed that exceptional importance is attached to strengthening cooperation within the framework of authoritative international organizations, including the Commonwealth of Independent States, where the Republic of Uzbekistan holds the presidency this year. This opens up new opportunities for deepening fruitful multilateral cooperation.
Turkmenistan highly values relations with fraternal Uzbekistan, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said, expressing confidence that the existing level of trust and mutual understanding between our countries will continue to serve as a solid basis for developing a dialogue with a close neighbor and reliable partner.
The heads of the two friendly States also exchanged views on topical issues on the regional and international agenda. The topic of the spread of coronavirus infection (COVID-19), which causes tension and uncertainty around the world and has a negative impact on the state of international relations and trade, was raised.
According to the “UzReport” news Agency, the number of people infected with coronavirus in Uzbekistan has reached 18. In Turkmenistan, according to the Ministry of health and medical industry, no cases of disease or suspected coronavirus have been recorded.
President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov noted that Turkmenistan, while fully supporting the international community in its efforts to combat coronavirus, takes a responsible approach to solving this problem and is ready to cooperate closely with fraternal Uzbekistan in this direction.
Presidents Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Shavkat Mirziyoyev spoke in favor of combining the efforts of neighboring States in countering the influence of coronavirus, expressing confidence that joint actions will contribute to the successful solution of this task.
At the end of the phone conversation, the interlocutors addressed wishes of health and success to each other, and peace, well – being and prosperity to the peoples of the two countries.
