Taking into account the geographical position of Turkmenistan, which is located at the intersection of major trade routes, in the process of active development of international relations, expanding the range of tourist services, comprehensive measures are being taken in the country to prevent the penetration of infectious diseases, including a new virus, the State sanitary and epidemiological service of the Ministry of health and medical industry reports.
According to the order of January 8, 2020 "on measures aimed at identifying symptoms and treatment of lung diseases of unknown etiology", all medical institutions of the country are working to improve the skills of specialists for timely diagnosis and treatment, and measures for sanitary and epidemiological surveillance are being strengthened.
In border areas, control is being strengthened in sanitary and quarantine points, in velayat sanitary and epidemiological services, as well as for citizens leaving and returning from abroad.
On January 20, a meeting of the Emergency anti-epidemic Commission (EAEC) was held to prevent the spread, importation and protection of the country's territory from infectious diseases, as well as to strengthen the system of preventive measures and control carried out by health care institutions.
According to the decision of the EAEC, training seminars were held for employees of the relevant services and information on sanitary quarantine points and offices was distributed. Measures have been taken to provide the country with the necessary medicines and medical supplies.
Currently, the virological reference laboratory of the center for public health and nutrition of the State sanitary and epidemiological service of Turkmenistan, which was awarded the status of the National influenza center by who in September 2019, is conducting diagnostic studies to determine acute respiratory diseases using advanced high-precision equipment using the polymerase chain reaction method.
