A scientific and practical conference on the transition to a bicameral system of Parliament was held at the International University of Humanities and development.

The forum was attended by students and teachers of the University, as well as representatives of the Mejlis, law enforcement agencies, the Turkmen state University named after Makhtumkuli.

The theme of the conference was related to the holding of targeted sessions of the Halk Maslakhat (People's Council), dedicated to the transition of Turkmenistan to a bicameral Parliament. This initiative was first announced last September at a meeting of the Halk Maslakhat.

Member of the Mejlis Ayshat Godjenova told about staging the work being done in this direction. In the speech, it was stressed that the incoming proposals for Constitutional changes are currently being considered. Addressing the University audience, the Deputy noted that students and teachers can also send their proposals directly to the Mejlis or through the Ministry of education of the country.

The conference provided examples of the bicameral system of Parliament in a number of countries, summarized the experience of their legislative activities, the newspaper "Neutral Turkmenistan" reports today.
