Turkmenistan makes its debut in Winter Youth Olympic Games

In Lausanne (Switzerland) started the 2020 Winter Youth Olympic Games. Turkmenistan is represented at these Games for the first time in its history. 15-year-old hockey player Novruz Bayhanov will play for our country. He carried the State flag of Turkmenistan at the opening ceremony of the Winter Olympics.

A Turkmen hockey player will take part in a 3x3 hockey competition developed by the Organizing Committee of the 2020 Winter Youth Olympic Games and IIHF: the teams will be formed from representatives of different countries, and the women's and men's tournaments will be held on the same hockey field, which divided into two equal halves.

In total, about 2,000 young athletes from 79 countries will compete for medals in various sports. Among the athletes will play 81 sets of medals in 8 sports and 16 disciplines. The largest delegations are from Switzerland, Russia, the USA and Germany. The age of participants is from 14 to 18 years. Games will last until January 22.
