A seminar organized by the OSCE Center ended today in Ashgabat. It provided a platform for regional dialogue on best practices and standards for using innovative technologies for water resources management. Representatives of the State Committee for Water Management, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environmental Protection, the Executive Committee of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea (IFAS) and other competent departments of Turkmenistan joined through their colleagues in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan, the OSCE Center said in a press release.
International experts highlighted integrated water resources management, presenting innovative solutions that ensure sustainable water supply for irrigation needs, sustainable urban water management, innovative renewable energy technologies for water management along with the use of information and communication technologies (ICT) for sustainable water management.
Representatives of the Central Asian countries shared their experience in developing national strategies, adapting regional programs and implementing projects on innovative water management technologies.
