In Turkmenistan, the last week of April was the World Immunization Week. The event was organized by the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry (MHMI) of the country with the support of the World Health Organization (WHO). The main goal of the event is to promote the use of vaccines to protect residents from diseases at any age, reports Centralasia.news.

This year, WHO set the date for World Immunization Week from April 24 to 30. In Turkmenistan, this action took place from April 22 to April 28 to coincide with the calendar week. The medical staff carried out propaganda of vaccinations among schoolchildren, students and teachers in universities, among parents of children of preschool age. The main topic of discussions with the audience was the use of vaccines against various infectious diseases, regardless of the person’s age, the report says.

According to the information, three new vaccines are introduced into the national vaccination schedule of Turkmenistan: pneumococcal - against all types of pneumonia, rotavirus - against rotavirus infection and against viral hepatitis "A" - Botkin's disease.
