The seventh meeting of the Turkmen-British Trade and Industrial Council was held today at the Yyldyz Hotel in the capital, the official website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan reports.
On the agenda of the meeting were issues of expanding cooperation in areas relevant for both countries.
From the Turkmen side, the meeting was attended by the heads and representatives of the ministries of finance and economy, education, foreign affairs, agriculture and environmental protection of Turkmenistan, the Turkmengas State Concern and the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan.
The British delegation was headed by Baroness Emma Nicholson, Member of the House of Lords of the British Parliament, British Ambassador to Turkmenistan Thorhilda Abbott-Watt, as well as representatives of leading British companies and industry-specific organizations. Among them: UK Export Finance, British Petroleum, Bloomberg LP, De La Rue, Petrofac, Rolls-Royce, Promethean World, United Insurance Brokers, JCB , Ed Broking, Shell, Buried Hill, Edgen Murray Europe Ltd, Ethos Energy, Weir Oil and Gas, Hermes Datacomms, Bristow Helicopters, Summit Conferences and Exhibitions Ltd , Expo, Intensive School of English and others.
During the dialogue, the parties discussed issues of cooperation between Turkmenistan and a number of well-known British companies that have positively recommended themselves on the world stage, in particular, working in the sphere of finance, energy and agriculture. The participants reviewed various proposals and opportunities for further strengthening trade and economic cooperation and increasing trade between the two countries.
Within the framework, a Memorandum on Cooperation in the Organization of Insurance and Reinsurance was signed between Hazar ätiýaçlandyryş Open Joint-Stock Company (Turkmenistan) and Ed Broking LLP (United Kingdom) insurance broker and a similar document between the Hazar ätiýaçlandyryş OJSC and United Insurance Brokers Ltd insurance broker (UK).
