WHO conference on the prevention and control of noncommunicable diseases opens in Ashgabat

The second international ministerial conference of the World Health Organization (WHO), Prevention and Control of Noncommunicable Diseases, organized by the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry (MHMI) of Turkmenistan and WHO, began its work in Ashgabat today.

The forum is attended by 44 delegations from the countries of the European Region of the World Health Organization, and Heads of the health systems of neighboring countries are invited.

The delegates of the forum will discuss topical public health issues for two days, in particular, methods of preventing and combating non-communicable diseases, such as cardiovascular, oncological, chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases and diabetes, which damage not only health, but also economics and development countries. Doctors will also share experiences on mental health, tobacco control and alcohol consumption, unhealthy diet and lack of physical activity and hypertension.
