The winners of the "Geoinformation Systems and Solutions" hackathon, held from November 18 to 19 at the S.A. Niyazov Turkmen Agricultural University among students from secondary vocational and higher educational institutions, have been announced.
The hackathon focused on "Promoting New Ideas Using Data and Capabilities of Modern Geoinformation Systems (GIS) for Remote Sensing."
According to "Turkmenistan: Golden Age," the Grand Prix was awarded to the team from the Institute of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Turkmenistan.
Students from the Border Institute of Turkmenistan and the Turkmen State Institute of Economics and Management won first place.
Second place was shared between students from the S.A. Niyazov Turkmen Agricultural University and the Aba Annayev International Horse Breeding Academy.
Teams from the Institute of Engineering, Technical, and Transport Communications of Turkmenistan, the Turkmen Agricultural Institute, and the Oguz han Engineering and Technological University of Turkmenistan took third place.
Teams from 13 universities participated in the competition, with each team consisting of three students.
For four hours at the hackathon, teams actively worked on developing projects using modern GIS. As a result, they developed and proposed new and exciting solutions based on the use of Earth remote sensing data and GIS capabilities. Participants demonstrated their skills in solving complex IT problems and their ability to work in a team.
