The United States has simplified the visa process for 2026 World Cup fans

US President Donald Trump announced a simplification of the visa process for foreign fans planning to attend the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Speaking at a working group meeting in the Oval Office of the White House on November 17, the American leader announced that the processing time for tourist visas has been significantly reduced. While the process previously took about a year, it is now 60 days or less. For residents of 80% of the world's countries, this process takes no more than two months, iz.ru reports.

"For those planning to join us for the World Cup, I strongly encourage you to apply now," Trump said.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who attended the meeting, clarified that purchasing a ticket does not automatically guarantee a visa, but does provide the opportunity to obtain an expedited interview appointment. Fans will be subject to the same screening standards as all other tourists.

Trump also noted that the team, led by the Secretary of State and representatives of the Department of Homeland Security, has organized a thorough screening process, after which fans will be allowed unimpeded entry into the country.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup will be held in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. According to Trump, the event is already setting ticket sales records.
