Turkmenistan is implementing a large-scale project to digitalize interdepartmental cooperation using the X-Road platform. The system has already united ten ministries and allows government agencies to securely exchange information electronically. This was announced by Mekan Meredov, a specialist in the Department of Interdepartmental Electronic Interaction at the Ministry of Communications of Turkmenistan, on the sidelines of the 18th International Exhibition and Scientific Conference "Turkmentel-2025" and the International Conference and Exhibition "International Transport and Transit Corridors: Interconnection and Development-2025".
"This year has been special for us. We've made significant progress in creating a more connected, secure, and digital government," Meredov noted, emphasizing that the X-Road platform has been a key element of the digital transformation.
The X-Road national data exchange system connects government agencies and organizations, enabling automated and secure information exchange between departments. This enables the transition from traditional paper-based document management to a digital workflow.
"Currently, ten ministries are connected to X-Road. In the near future, we plan to rapidly expand the system to make digital services directly accessible to citizens," the specialist said.
The platform's unique feature is the direct transfer of data between systems without the use of a central storage facility. Each message is encrypted and digitally signed, ensuring a high level of information security.
"The project aims to improve the quality of public services for citizens and strengthen trust in the digital state," Meredov explained.
According to him, the initiative unites various ministries, departments, and institutions into a single digital ecosystem. The system covers a wide range of areas, from healthcare and education to legal and customs services.
Within the framework of the "e-government" concept, citizens of Turkmenistan will be able to receive certificates and documents from various agencies through a single digital application.
