On November 3, Kyrgyzstan unveiled the 2025 model of its general passport and ID card, Sputnik.kg reports.
The new documents comply with International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) standards. The passports are equipped with more than 30 modern security features of varying degrees, an electronic chip, and personal information is applied using laser technology.
The general civil passport contains 34 internal pages made of special paper with watermarks. The pages depict all the regions of Kyrgyzstan and historical and cultural symbols: the image of the national epic hero Manas, the presidential residence, Khan-Tengri Peak, the ancient Burana Tower, and other landmarks that serve as security features.
The back cover of the passport contains an electronic contactless chip containing the owner's biometric data, including fingerprints. The pages containing personal data are made of polycarbonate. Each page features an ultraviolet image of the phases of the moon, as well as hidden elements visible only upon special inspection.
The new-style passports contain 34 visa pages. The return of 50-page passports is currently under discussion.
The new ID cards feature a transparent section, which serves as an additional security feature against counterfeiting. Under normal light, it appears blue, but under ultraviolet light, it changes to red.
