The Turkmenistan men's volleyball team won the 2025 CAVA Cup for Men international tournament, which concluded in Dhaka, Bangladesh. The Turkmen athletes went undefeated throughout the tournament, defeating Afghanistan 3-2 in the final.
Six teams participated in the tournament: Turkmenistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, the Maldives, Sri Lanka, and Afghanistan. In the group stage, Turkmenistan convincingly defeated Nepal (3-0), Sri Lanka (3-1), Afghanistan (3-1), and the Maldives (3-0). Their only serious opponent was Bangladesh, to whom Turkmenistan lost only one set (3-2).
The final match against Afghanistan was tense. The Turkmen volleyball players were forced to tie the score (2-2) twice. In the decisive fifth set, trailing 6-1, the Turkmenistan team managed to turn the match around and secure victory.
Following the tournament, the Turkmenistan national team's players were recognized: Bagtyar Hemragulyev was named the best outside hitter of the competition, and Akmyrat Dovletov was named the best setter.
The victory secured the Turkmenistan national team a spot in the 2026 Asian Volleyball Championship, according to the newspaper "Neutral Turkmenistan."
