State Minister of Turkmenistan, Chairman of the “Turkmengaz” State Concern Maksat Babayev spoke at the 30th anniversary international conference and exhibition "Oil and Gas of Turkmenistan" (OGT 2025), emphasizing the country's readiness to expand international cooperation in the energy sector.
The head of “Turkmengaz” reported on the progress of projects to develop the Galkynysh field. Three gas processing plants with a total capacity of 30 billion cubic meters per year are currently operational. The fourth phase of the project, with a capacity of 10 billion cubic meters, is scheduled for launch early next year.
Babayev noted the diversification of export routes as a priority for the country's gas policy. Turkmen gas is supplied to China and Uzbekistan, with China remaining the largest buyer, at approximately 40 billion cubic meters per year via three pipeline lines. Once the fourth line is commissioned, this volume will increase to 65 billion cubic meters.
The presentation focused on the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) transnational gas pipeline. Once fully operational, the pipeline will supply 33 billion cubic meters per year to markets in South and Southeast Asia.
Babayev emphasized Turkmenistan's commitment to sustainable development principles. The country has joined the global methane pledge and implemented the MARS digital platform for monitoring methane emissions.
"Turkmenistan is open, reliable, and ready for partnership," the minister said, calling on international investors to participate in gas projects.
