A delegation from Turkmenistan, led by Deputy Foreign Minister Mahri Bashimova, took part in a ministerial meeting in Luxembourg on October 20.
The meeting took place following the EU Foreign Affairs Council, according to the Turkmen Foreign Ministry. EU member states, Central Asian and Eastern Partnership countries, and Türkiye participated in the forum.
In her speech, Mahri Bashimova reaffirmed Turkmenistan's commitment to deepening mutually beneficial cooperation with the EU based on the principles of trust, respect, and equality. The Turkmen side outlined priorities: developing modern and sustainable transport infrastructure with a focus on the Trans-Caspian route; expanding energy connectivity with the EU, including support for the SECCA program, cooperation on renewable energy, and hydrogen technologies; promoting the green agenda through the initiative to establish a Regional Center to Combat Desertification and a Regional Climate Technology Center, as well as developing the Caspian Environmental Initiative.
Following the ministerial meeting, the EU announced the preparation of a coordination framework for implementing the connectivity agenda, involving states, international financial institutions, and the private sector. The draft will be presented for discussion at the Trans-Caspian Transport Corridor Investment Forum in Tashkent this November, the source noted.
