During his working visit to the United States, Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov met with Portuguese President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, the State News Agency of Turkmenistan reports. The main outcome of the talks was President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa's invitation to participate in the International Forum, which will take place on December 12 in Ashgabat.
The interlocutors emphasized the high level of mutual understanding and friendly relations between the two countries, based on the principles of equality and respect. It was noted that Turkmenistan and Portugal actively cooperate within the UN, supporting and promoting joint initiatives.
Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa expressed gratitude for the invitation and emphasized the importance of Turkmenistan's peacekeeping policy, which, he said, strengthens the country's international authority and promotes global dialogue.
At the end of the meeting, the presidents reaffirmed their commitment to developing interstate ties for the benefit of the peoples of Turkmenistan and Portugal.
