Finland's Special Representative to the OSCE Terhi Hakala is on a visit to Turkmenistan. During her stay in the country, she visited the OSCE Centre in Ashgabat, where she held meetings with the organization's staff and civil society partners. During her visit to the organization's office, Hakala also planted a tree, page X reports.
Earlier, on September 8, a meeting between Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov and Terhi Hakala took place at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan. The parties discussed long-term cooperation between Turkmenistan and the OSCE in the political, economic, environmental and humanitarian areas.
During the meeting, the importance of the projects and programmes being implemented was noted, as well as the need to continue exchanging experiences in the field of human rights protection and strengthening democratic institutions. Minister Meredov expressed gratitude to Terhi Hakala for his personal contribution to the development of partnership relations and emphasized Finland's role in enhancing the effectiveness of the OSCE.
