Former US President Joe Biden recently underwent surgery to remove malignant skin cells, NBC News reported on Friday, September 5, with reference to the former head of state's press secretary.
According to the information received, the operation was performed using the Mohs method, a highly effective surgical technique widely used to treat skin cancer. Biden's spokesman said the former president is successfully recovering from the procedure.
The exact date of the operation is not specified. However, Sky News notes that a video from late August, where Biden was captured leaving a church in Delaware, shows a fresh post-operative scar on his head.
This is not Biden's first time undergoing skin cancer surgery. He underwent a similar procedure in 2023 while he was president. As his physician Kevin O'Connor reported at the time, the surgery was performed in the chest area, all affected tissue was successfully removed, and no additional treatment was required.
