The Training Center of the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan held a two-day simulation exercise on legal regulation of issues related to illegal maritime trade.
As reported on the customs service website, the event was held with the support of the Regional Office of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) in Afghanistan, Central Asia, Iran and Pakistan.
The exercises were attended by representatives of key government agencies of Turkmenistan, including the Ministry of National Security, the State Border Service, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the State Customs Service, the Ministry of Defense and the Prosecutor General's Office, as well as a delegation of specialists from the Republic of Kazakhstan.
This is the first international event organized at the Training Center after it received regional status.
The past exercises highlight the importance of strengthening regional security and contribute to the establishment of effective cooperation between government agencies and international partners, the source notes.
