An Australian fisherman miraculously survived an unexpected encounter with a whale off the coast of Queensland. The 40-year-old man was in a boat when the huge sea animal suddenly surfaced nearby. As it moved, the whale brushed the boat and hit the fisherman in the face with its tail, causing him to lose consciousness, Lenta.ru reports, citing The Independent.
Thanks to the quick reaction of his partner, who called the rescuers, the victim was quickly brought to shore and hospitalized. Doctors diagnosed the man with serious injuries to the face and back. Despite the stabilization of his condition, the fisherman does not remember the moment of the incident.
Doctors noted the extreme rarity of such cases. According to them, although whales sometimes rock boats in the region, direct physical contact with people occurs extremely rarelyю
