Training on the use of a speech synthesizer for people with visual impairments was held in Ashgabat

A special training was held in Ashgabat on the use of the developed speech synthesizer in the Turkmen language for people with visual impairments.

The training was organized by the Innovation Information Center of the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan and the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) and took place from January 8 to 12, reports the publication “Turkmenistan: Golden Age”.

Participants were introduced to the features of using the synthesizer for learning, including screen reading and accessing websites.

The Turkmen language speech synthesizer is the result of collaboration between the Ministry of Education, ATScale, the Society of the Blind and Deaf of Turkmenistan, Louder Pages (producers of RHVoice) and UNICEF Turkmenistan. The program allows people with visual impairments to access texts using text-to-speech technology.

The development demonstrates the country's commitment to expanding educational opportunities for children and adults with visual impairments, the source notes.
