The creator of the Pascal programming language has passed away

Niklaus Wirth, creator of the Pascal programming language, died on January 1, 2024 at the age of 90. This is reported by TASS with reference to a statement by the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM).

The Swiss scientist was one of the leading computer scientists and a winner of the Turing Award, the most prestigious award in the field. He created several innovative computer languages, including Pascal, which had a huge impact on the development of programming.

Pascal was developed in 1970 and quickly became a popular language for teaching programming. It was easy to learn and use, yet powerful enough to create complex applications.

Wirth also developed the Euler, Algol-W, Modula and Oberon programming languages.
