Today, early in the morning, participants in the multi-kilometer cycle marathon on the route Afghanistan-Turkmenistan-Azerbaijan-Georgia-Turkey arrived from Mary in Ashgabat.
A group of Afghan athletes in the capital was warmly welcomed by employees of the Ministry of Sport and Youth Policy of Turkmenistan, as well as representatives of the diplomatic corps of Afghanistan in Turkmenistan.
As part of their route, foreign athletes visited the National Institute of Sport and Tourism of Turkmenistan. Here, cyclists solemnly met teachers and students of the university. Guests were greeted by musical performances by folklore groups. Dastarkhans abounded fragrant churek, traditional dishes of national cuisine, oriental sweets, generous gifts of the Turkmen land. Turkmen souvenirs were presented as a gift to the guests.
The next stage of the marathon will pass through the territory of the Balkan Region, Afghan cyclists will continue their movement along the lazurite road of antiquity. The total length of the route is 4147 kilometers.
