The President of Belarus will visit Turkmenistan in October to participate in the CIS summit

Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko will take part in the meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of State, which will be held in Turkmenistan in October. This was announced by Stanislav Chepurnoy, the Belarusian Ambassador to Ashgabat.

This year, while putting the positive nature of its permanent neutrality into practice, Turkmenistan holds the chairmanship of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) and hosts meetings of the CIS statutory bodies. A meeting of the Council of Heads of Government was successfully held in Ashgabat in May; during the event, Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus Aleksandr Turchin met with the esteemed President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov."This autumn, Turkmenistan will host a series of additional events under the auspices of the CIS, including the most important one—the meeting of the Council of Heads of State—in which the esteemed President of the Republic of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, will also participate," the diplomat wrote in an article dedicated to Belarus's Independence Day, published in the "Neutral Turkmenistan" newspaper.

According to him, participation in integration entities within the Eurasian space is a key foreign policy and foreign economic priority for Belarus.

"Our country advocates for the effective alignment of various integration formats, the elimination of trade barriers, the development of a free trade area for goods and services, the deepening of industrial cooperation, and the creation of reliable transport and logistics corridors based on national currencies," Chepurnoy noted.

He emphasized that Turkmenistan has clearly outlined the priority areas of its chairmanship: strengthening the CIS’s position as a platform for equal cooperation and trust, and expanding collaboration in the fields of energy, the environment, and digitalization, as well as in economic, transport, and cultural-humanitarian ties.

"Belarus shares the priorities of Turkmenistan’s CIS chairmanship program and, for its part, stands ready to participate in its implementation, providing comprehensive assistance and support on all matters aimed at strengthening the Commonwealth. We are confident that Turkmenistan’s chairmanship of the CIS will yield tangible benefits, foster integration processes across the Eurasian region, and enhance the effectiveness of the CIS," the ambassador concluded.

The next meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the CIS member countries will take place on October 9 in the "Awaza" National Tourist Zone.
