The Mejlis of Turkmenistan met with UN Resident Coordinator Dmitry Shlapachenko

Today, Chairperson of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan, Dunyagozel Gulmanova, met with the United Nations Resident Coordinator in Turkmenistan, Dmitry Shlapachenko, who is completing his mission in the country. This was reported on the Mejlis website.

The parties emphasized the importance of effective cooperation and the long-standing experience of Turkmenistan and the UN and its specialized agencies.

During the meeting, the significance of the large-scale reforms being implemented in the country and the UN resolutions adopted at Turkmenistan's initiative were noted. It was noted that the initiative to declare 2028 the "Year of International Law" will play a significant role in strengthening mutual trust and respect in interstate relations and strengthening the international legal foundation for peace and cooperation.

The parties also noted the importance of training seminars and meetings held as part of joint cooperation on coordinating national plans with the Sustainable Development Goals, improving legislative drafts based on international standards, as well as digitalizing the Mejlis's information systems and improving electronic document management.

At the end of the meeting, the Speaker of the Mejlis warmly congratulated Dmitry Shlapachenko on his appointment as Permanent Representative of the United Nations to the Republic of Azerbaijan and wished him great success in his new diplomatic post.

As a reminder, Dmitry Shlapachenko was appointed UN Resident Coordinator in Turkmenistan in July 2021.
