Turkmenistan and Malaysia will expand cooperation in science, transport, and education

Turkmenistan and Malaysia signed a package of bilateral documents following Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim's official visit to Ashgabat. The signing and document exchange ceremony took place following talks between Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and the Malaysian prime minister, according to the State News Agency of Turkmenistan.

  • The documents exchanged between the parties include:

  • A Memorandum of Understanding between the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan and the Academy of Sciences of Malaysia;

  • Memorandum of Understanding between the State Service "Türkmenhowaýollary" and the Ministry of Transport of Malaysia;

  • Agreement on Air Services between the Government of Turkmenistan and the Government of Malaysia;

  • Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of Turkmenistan and the Government of Malaysia in the field of diplomatic training and cooperation in scientific exchange.

The following signed documents were also announced:

  • Agreement between the Oguz han Engineering and Technology University of Turkmenistan and the Tenaga National University on student exchange and mobility programs;

  • Agreement between the Turkmen State Institute of Architecture and Construction and the National University of Tenaga on student exchange and mobility program;

  • Agreement between the State Energy Institute of Turkmenistan and the National University of Tenaga on student exchange and mobility program.

The ceremony concluded with the signing of a Joint Statement by Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Anwar Ibrahim following the visit.

The document records the results of negotiations on bilateral, regional, and international issues, and reaffirms the parties' commitment to further developing interstate cooperation.
