Rospotrebnadzor (the Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing) has donated PCR test kits for Ebola fever diagnostics to the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry of Turkmenistan, the agency's press service reported.

The donated diagnostic tools are the latest developments from the Central Research Institute of Epidemiology of Rospotrebnadzor. They can detect the Bundibugyo virus, which is causing the current outbreak in several African countries.

The reliability of the tests was confirmed in real-world conditions in Uganda, where a team of Rospotrebnadzor specialists was previously deployed to assist in the fight against the epidemic. Similar test kits were also provided to the Republic of the Congo, the statement noted.

The department emphasized that the tests donated to Turkmenistan enable the rapid and accurate detection of the disease pathogen, which is crucial for the timely implementation of anti-epidemic measures and the prevention of the spread of infection throughout the Eurasian region.
