Ahead of the New Year, Turkmenistan will experience a cold snap, with subzero temperatures and precipitation in the form of snow and rain expected across all regions of the country.

Ashgabat will see mostly partly cloudy skies, with snow expected midweek. Winds will shift from east to northwest at speeds ranging from 10-13 meters per second to 14-16 meters per second. Overnight temperatures will range from -1 to -3 degrees Celsius to +1 to +3 degrees Celsius, and daytime highs from +2 to +4 degrees Celsius to +7 to +9 degrees Celsius.

The Balkan velayat will see partly cloudy skies, with snow expected early and in the second half of the week. Winds will shift from east to northwest at speeds ranging from 8-13 meters per second to 12-17 meters per second. Overnight temperatures will range from -3 to +2°C, with daytime highs ranging from 7 to +12°C in coastal areas, to 3 to +8°C.

Partly cloudy skies with snow showers are expected in the Ahal velayat. Winds will shift from east to northwest at speeds of 8-13 meters per second to 10-15 meters per second. Temperatures will range from -5 to -1 to +4 degrees Celsius at night, and from +1 to +6 degrees Celsius to +6 to +11 degrees Celsius during the day.

Partly cloudy skies with snow showers are expected in the Mary velayat. Winds will be northeasterly at 7-12 meters per second to 10-15 meters per second. Temperatures will range from 0 to -5 degrees Celsius at night to 1 to 6 degrees Celsius, and from 0 to 5 degrees Celsius to 6 to 11 degrees Celsius during the day.

Partly cloudy skies with snow showers are expected in the Lebap velayat. Winds will be from the northeast at 8-13 meters per second to 11-16 meters per second. Temperatures will range from -1 to -6 degrees Celsius at night to -1 to +4 degrees Celsius during the day, and from 0 to +5 degrees Celsius to +8 to +13 degrees Celsius during the day.

The Dashoguz velayat is expected to see partly cloudy skies with light snowfalls mid- and late-week. Winds will shift from southeast to northwest at speeds ranging from 7-12 meters per second to 10-15 meters per second. Overnight temperatures will range from -2 to -7 degrees Celsius, while daytime temperatures will range from -3 to +2 degrees Celsius to +1 to +6 degrees Celsius.
