President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov received Vice President of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) for South, Central and West Asia Yang Yingming, who arrived in the country on a working visit.
As reported by the State News Agency of Turkmenistan, the guest expressed gratitude for the opportunity to meet in person and emphasized the special attention of the ADB to cooperation with Turkmenistan, which demonstrates stable dynamics of economic growth. The Asian Development Bank confirmed its support for Turkmenistan's initiatives to form a sustainable economy and its diversification.
The President of Turkmenistan noted the importance of expanding international cooperation within the framework of the country's development strategy, emphasizing the constructive nature of interaction with the ADB, which will celebrate its 25th anniversary in 2025.
Over the past period, ADB has participated in financing projects that have had a significant impact on the socio-economic development of Turkmenistan in the energy, transport and healthcare sectors. Currently, the bilateral partnership is being implemented within the framework of the Cooperation Strategy with Turkmenistan for 2024-2028.
The head of state expressed confidence that the memorandum of understanding signed in May 2025 between the State Committee for Construction of the city of Arkadag and the ADB will give new impetus to the long-term partnership.
During the meeting, special attention was paid to the diversification of the energy sector of Turkmenistan, the modernization of railway transport and the development of small and medium-sized businesses with the support of ADB financial and credit services.
President Serdar Berdimuhamedov confirmed Turkmenistan's readiness to further expand mutually beneficial partnership with the international financial organization and wished Yang Yingming success in his work.
