The groundbreaking ceremony for the Güneşli Children and Youth Center took place in the capital of Turkmenistan on Sunday, timed to coincide with International Children's Day, the State News Agency of Turkmenistan reported.
The ceremony was attended by the Chairman of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan, members of the government, heads of military and law enforcement agencies, ministries and departments, the mayor of Ashgabat, representatives of public organizations and the media.
The event was given a festive atmosphere by performances by cultural figures, artists and children's dance groups. The first to lay symbolic shovels of concrete in the foundation were representatives of the older generation, then the youth joined them. The event ended with the release of multi-colored balloons.
The new center will reportedly provide children with conditions for improving their knowledge and skills. It is planned to create career-oriented clubs, sports and playgrounds, cultural and mass facilities, an amphitheater and a training field for studying traffic rules.
The center will house the Bazar Amanova State Children's Library, equipped with modern digital technologies. The project will feature an observatory with a telescope for observing outer space.
Completion of the construction of the facility is scheduled for May 2027.
