Australian radio station CADA broadcast a music show for about six months without disclosing to listeners that its host was an artificial intelligence, daily.afisha.ru reports with reference to The Verge.

A presenter named Tai hosted a weekday show called The Workdays, appearing daily for four hours. Despite the regular broadcasts, the station hid from its audience that Tai was a virtual character created using a neural network.

The unusual details were first noticed by Sydney writer Stephanie Coombs. In her blog, she noted the strange lack of information about the radio host: "Where is Tai's bio? Who is she? Where did she come from? There is no bio or other personal information on the site or anywhere else."

Their suspicions were heightened when they analyzed the audio recordings. The researchers noticed that some phrases in Tai's speech, such as "Old School," sounded exactly the same each time it was repeated—a feature not typically found in humans.

After the AI was revealed, the head of ARN, the media holding company that owns CADA, called the project a “breakthrough in broadcasting.”

ARN later clarified that Tai’s voice and image were based on a real employee of the company’s finance department, and the sound itself was generated using software from ElevenLabs.
