President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov stated that political and diplomatic interaction between the countries of Central Asia and the European Union can have a significant constructive impact on the overall situation in the region. The statement was made during the head of state's speech at the first “Central Asia-European Union” Summit held in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, the State News Agency of Turkmenistan reports.
In his speech, the President of Turkmenistan emphasized the importance of joint efforts that could contribute to the initiatives of the world community, primarily the United Nations. The head of state noted that Turkmenistan seeks to see Central Asia as a peaceful, economically attractive region, a territory of stability and predictability, free from geopolitical conflicts and contradictions.
The President of Turkmenistan also declared the country's readiness to work to achieve these goals in accordance with its neutral status and international obligations. Particular attention in the speech was paid to the fight against traditional challenges of the time and new threats. Serdar Berdimuhamedov called for the development of effective joint steps and the creation of modern effective protection mechanisms based on the latest scientific and technological developments.
