The 18th Asian Film Awards ceremony, known as the "Asian Oscars," was held in Hong Kong. Special awards for their contribution to Asian cinema were given to Chinese actress Tang Wei, known for her role in the film "Decision to Leave", Korean actor Jang Dong-gun, and Japanese actor Koji Yakusho, who played in Wim Wenders' film "Perfect Days".
