The National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov held a meeting with the head of the Republic of Tatarstan of the Russian Federation Rustam Minnikhanov, the news program “Watan” of Turkmen television reported.
At the beginning of the meeting, Minnikhanov expressed deep gratitude for the time spent and conveyed warm greetings and best wishes from the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin. The chairman of the Halk Maslahaty, in turn, conveyed to the Russian leader sincere wishes for happiness, peace and prosperity.
During the meeting, it was noted that Turkmenistan is actively promoting positive initiatives aimed at ensuring global peace and sustainable development, which are recognized by the world community. Turkmen diplomats play an important role in the successful implementation of the country’s foreign policy, based on mutual benefit, equality, goodwill and peacefulness. The significant contribution of the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, established in 2008 on the initiative of Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, was especially noted.
It Is noteworthy that the meeting took place on February 18, the Day of Diplomatic Workers of Turkmenistan, which gave special significance to this event. Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov sincerely congratulated all employees of the country’s diplomatic service on their professional holiday and wished them success in their responsible work.
Taking this opportunity, the head of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov congratulated the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty and Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan, Minister of Foreign Affairs Rashid Meredov on the Day of Diplomatic Workers, noting that it was a great honor for him to visit Turkmenistan during the celebration of this professional holiday.
During the conversation, it was emphasized that for many centuries the peoples of Turkmenistan and Tatarstan have maintained close and friendly ties based on the similarity of cultures, languages, religions and traditions, mutual respect and the principle of equality.
The National Leader of the Turkmen people emphasized that Turkmenistan highly values the development of relations with the Republic of Tatarstan. Regular meetings and contacts at the highest level contribute to constructive bilateral cooperation. In recent years, significant work has been done in the economic, political and other fields, thanks to which bilateral relations have reached a new level.
“By consistently building up the Turkmen-Tatarstan dialogue, we are taking effective measures in various areas, in which good results are achieved,” Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov noted.
The favorable Investment climate created in Turkmenistan and the growing international authority of the country as a reliable partner provide enormous opportunities for the development of mutually beneficial trade and economic partnership.
“We in Turkmenistan highly value relations with the Republic of Tatarstan of the Russian Federation,” the National Leader of the Turkmen people emphasized, noting with satisfaction that bilateral cooperation is steadily expanding on the principles of good neighborliness, friendship and equality.
The parties also noted the positive dynamics of interaction in the cultural, humanitarian, scientific, educational and sports spheres, which contributes to strengthening the Turkmen-Tatarstan dialogue. Expressing gratitude for the care of Turkmen students studying at universities in Tatarstan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov confirmed Turkmenistan’s readiness to further expand cooperation in this area.
During the meeting, the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty reported that in accordance with the UN General Assembly Resolution adopted at the initiative of Turkmenistan, 2025 has been declared the “International Year of Peace and Trust”. On December 12 of this year, a representative Forum of the International Year of Peace and Trust is planned to be held in the Turkmen capital in honor of the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s permanent neutrality. Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov invited Rustam Minnikhanov to take part in the upcoming forum, expressing confidence that his participation will make a significant contribution to the successful holding of this large-scale international event.
At the end of the meeting, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Rustam Minnikhanov wished each other health and success in responsible state activities, and peace, goodness and prosperity to the fraternal peoples of Turkmenistan and Tatarstan.
After the meeting, the National Leader of the Turkmen people and the distinguished guest went together to the Ashgabat International Airport, from where the head of the Republic of Tatarstan departed for his homeland.
