On January 22, representatives of Turkmenistan simultaneously presented the country’s international initiative in two capitals. In Moscow and Minsk, diplomats spoke about the concept of holding the International Year of Peace and Trust, which will be celebrated in 2025, the website of the CIS Executive Committee reports.
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkmenistan to the Russian Federation Esen Aydogdyev spoke at a meeting of the Commission on Economic Affairs in the Moscow office of the CIS Executive Committee. He emphasized that the resolution declaring 2025 the International Year of Peace and Trust was unanimously adopted at the 78th session of the UN General Assembly with the co-authorship of 86 states.
In parallel, in Minsk, at the first meeting of the Council of Permanent Plenipotentiary Representatives of the CIS countries this year, the Permanent Plenipotentiary Representative of Turkmenistan to the statutory bodies of the CIS, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Republic of Belarus Nazarkuly Shakulyev made a similar statement.
According to Turkmen diplomats, this initiative is a practical embodiment of the philosophy of “Dialogue – a guarantee of peace” proposed by the Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. Turkmenistan sees the coming year as an opportunity for a qualitative transition to a new stage of international relations.
The culmination of the International Year of Peace and Trust will be a large-scale international forum in December 2025, which will also be timed to coincide with the International Day of Neutrality and the 30th anniversary of the Permanent Neutrality of Turkmenistan.
