The State Statistics Committee of Turkmenistan, in cooperation with international partners, including the implementation of joint projects with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), has taken an important step in improving the statistical reporting system in accordance with the updated version of the System of National Accounts (SNA).
Within the framework of cooperation with UNDP, new methodologies were developed and implemented, covering government classifiers and key sectors such as finance, banking and insurance, science and tourism, according to a UNDP press release.
Approaches to calculating the consumption of fixed assets were also introduced, and the capacity of the statistical system staff was significantly strengthened.

“UNDP welcomes the Government of Turkmenistan’s approval of the proposal to introduce statistical reporting based on the updated version of the System of National Accounts and expresses its readiness to continue fruitful cooperation in creating a modern and comprehensive statistical system in the country”.
