Beijing is preparing to host the world's first half marathon, where humans and humanoid robots will meet on the same distance. The competition is scheduled for April, writes daily.afisha.ru with reference to the South China Morning Post.
The event will bring together about 12 thousand human athletes and several dozen robots representing more than 20 technology companies. Participants will have to overcome the classic half-marathon distance of 21 kilometers. The organizers have established a prize fund for the three best runners.
The venue for the innovation run will be E-Town, the Beijing Economic and Technological Development Zone located in the Daxing District. This industrial cluster is known for its high-tech manufacturing parks and innovative developments.
The organisers emphasise that the unusual format of the competition is intended to demonstrate China's achievements in the field of artificial intelligence and robotics.
