President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov held a working meeting with Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers T. Atahalliyev and velayat governors on issues of agricultural development and implementation of the National Rural Program, TDH reports.
During the meeting, the Deputy Prime Minister reported on the current state of agricultural work in the country. Scheduled maintenance and application of mineral fertilizers in compliance with agricultural standards are being carried out in wheat fields. Active preparations are underway for the upcoming cotton sowing: plowing, leveling and fertilizing the land are underway. Particular attention is paid to providing cotton growers with high-quality seeds and preparing agricultural machinery for the sowing season.
The head of state emphasized the strategic importance of the agricultural sector for the country’s economy and gave a number of specific instructions. In particular, to ensure strict compliance with agrotechnical requirements for wheat care, control the quality of land preparation for cotton sowing, organize timely delivery of high-quality seeds to cotton producers, ensure the readiness of agricultural machinery for spring work and begin preparations for sowing potatoes and vegetable and melon crops.
Particular attention was paid to the Mary velayat, where it is necessary to ensure the harvesting of sugar beets without losses and prepare for spring sowing.
The head of state also instructed to strengthen control over the implementation of the National Rural Program and the provision of the population with utilities, including heating, electricity, gas and drinking water.
