Microsoft co-founder and former CEO Bill Gates has expressed concerns that modern gadgets and social networks may limit the development of deep thinking in the younger generation, gazeta.ru reports with reference to CNBC.

Gates doubts he would have become a billionaire if he had grown up like today's kids, distracted by smartphones and social media. He says it was a childhood spent exploring the world and reading that allowed him to start a company that is now valued at 3,26 trillion USD.

From the beginning of his career, the billionaire has consistently emphasized the importance of reading and solitude to achieve success. In the 1990s, to fully immerse himself in work and find new ideas, the Microsoft CEO would retreat to a cabin with only a pile of books and technical documentation. He called these periods “Think Weeks.”
