The Asian Development Bank intends to provide technical assistance for the project «Integrated Renewable Energy Solutions to Support Green Transformation in Turkmenistan.» This was reported by TurkicWorld with reference to the ADB.
It is noted that the main objective of the project is to develop a roadmap for the use of solar energy, including the creation of innovative solutions for cities such as Arkadag.
The project is expected to launch a pilot urban solar power plant that will provide annual generation of more than 4 gigawatts per hour of renewable energy, which will lead to a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by more than 3 thousand tons per year.
“Turkmenistan’s transition from hydrocarbons to renewable energy sources, such as solar, will diversify the economy, reduce carbon emissions, and open up new export markets, including the possibility of creating “green” energy corridors from Central Asia to Europe,” the bank said.
The project is being implemented as part of technical assistance and is part of ADB’s long-term strategy to support the sustainable development of Turkmenistan. Particular attention will be paid to training government officials, the private sector, and local communities in renewable energy technologies.
The project, scheduled for implementation in 2026, is an important step towards environmental sustainability and energy independence for Turkmenistan, the source noted.
