The diplomatic missions of Turkmenistan and the United Mexican States held the first video conference at the level of political consultations on October 24, 2024, mfa.gov.tm reports.
During the meeting, the parties discussed a wide range of areas for developing cooperation. The key topics were prospects for cooperation in the energy sector, expansion of trade and economic ties, development of partnership in the agricultural sector, as well as strengthening contacts in the field of education, culture and sports.
Participants in the consultations paid special attention to coordinating actions in the international arena, primarily within the UN, confirming their desire to strengthen multilateral cooperation. The economic block of discussions considered the possibilities of establishing direct contacts between representatives of the business communities of the two countries.
A separate item on the agenda was the development of cultural ties, including the organization of joint events and the launch of joint programs. The parties noted the importance of establishing direct interaction between leading diplomatic universities - the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and the Mexican Institute of Diplomatic Studies named after Matias Romero.
During the discussion of the prospects for interstate dialogue, special emphasis was placed on the development of inter-parliamentary relations. Following the consultations, an agreement was reached to hold the next meeting in 2025 in Ashgabat.
